PDP Chieftain Onaiwu calls for focus on party unity in Edo, dismisses Wike controversy

Mr. Earl Osaro Onaiwu, the pioneer Director-General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor’s Forum, has urged supporters in Edo State to disregard reports suggesting that FCT Minister Nyesom Wike sponsored Deputy Governor Phillip Shuaibu’s declaration for the 2024 gubernatorial race. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Onaiwu emphasized the need to focus on building a strong and united PDP in Edo.

Onaiwu dismissed the notion that Wike played a role in Shuaibu’s declaration, stating that such claims are attempts to score cheap political points. He urged PDP members in Edo not to be distracted by unfounded insinuations and hearsay.

“People are just using Wike’s name to score cheap political points. Wike has moved on and should be allowed to face his duties as FCT Minister,” Onaiwu said. He stressed the importance of working together to achieve the common goal of winning the 2024 governorship election in the state.
