University of Ilorin introduces paternity leave for male staff – Registrar

The University of Ilorin has introduced paternity leave for its male staff members, as announced by the Registrar, Mr. Mansur Alfanla. In a conversation with journalists in Ilorin, Alfanla highlighted that this inclusion is part of the recently amended Conditions of Service and is considered one of the most significant enhancements to the university’s working conditions.

The Registrar emphasized that the introduction of paternity leave aligns with modern workplace practices that acknowledge the importance of achieving a balance between work and personal life. Under this provision, serving male officers are eligible for a 14-working-day paternity leave when their spouse gives birth. Additionally, male officers adopting a child under four months old will also enjoy a 14-working-day paternity leave.

Alfanla stressed the significance of familiarizing and adhering to the updated conditions, emphasizing the university’s commitment to creating a conducive and balanced work environment for its staff.
