Heightened security measures in Lokoja as INEC office faces threat

Amidst concerns over a purported plot by suspected arsonists to set fire to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, security operatives have taken decisive action to safeguard the premises.

Reports indicate that personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, and various security agencies have positioned themselves at the INEC office, deploying armoured personnel carriers to prevent any potential invasion. The heightened security measures have also led to a significant decrease in activity at the usually bustling post office, which now stands deserted.

The impact of the security operation has extended to vehicular movement, with motorists redirected to alternative routes, particularly those heading towards Abuja, Nataco, and the Felele axis.

This development follows accusations between political parties, with one party alleging that the other sponsored thugs to vandalize election materials housed in the INEC office.
