Soyinka reveals advice disregarded as he visits Tinubu

Renowned Nigerian dramatist, Professor Wole Soyinka, disclosed that President Bola Tinubu ignored his counsel not to run for the presidency. During a courtesy visit to Tinubu’s Lagos residence, Soyinka expressed the purpose of the visit was to check on the President and his wife, reflecting on the previous advice he had given.

Describing the visit as “embarrassing,” Soyinka revealed that he had presented a comprehensive seven-point agenda for discussion during their meeting.

Recalling his previous attempt to dissuade both Tinubu and Atiku from contesting, Soyinka emphasized the need for younger individuals to take the political stage. Despite the differing opinions, he extended Christmas wishes to Tinubu and his wife.
