Joint Amotekun-Police operation nabs five alleged c¥ltists in Osun

In a collaborative effort between Amotekun Osun and the Osun State Police Command, a joint patrol successfully apprehended five suspected cultists involved in various ill#cit activities in different areas of Ilesa town.

The arrested individuals, identified as Kareem Ojo (32), Adedamola Salami (26), Olatunji Ezekiel (24), Adeyeye Adekunle (33), and Tope Oguntade (35), were reportedly engaged in dr¥g dealing and were found in possession of dangerous weapons, including axes, charms, and guns, at the time of their arrest.

Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, disclosed in a statement that the arrests were made by the Osun State Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad, led by the OC, in collaboration with the Police Anti-Cultism Squad. The joint operation took place over the course of Thursday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

The suspects, known to be members of the Eiye confraternity, were apprehended at different locations in Ilesa. It was revealed that they had been on the wanted list of the Osun Police Anti-Cultism Unit for an extended period.

The arrests followed an attack on the Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad by the suspected cultists during the Iwude Ijesa celebration in Ilesa township. The operatives were att@cked with dangerous weapons, resulting in injuries.

Upon confessing to their affiliation with the Eiye confraternity, the suspects were handed over to the Police Anti-Cultism Unit for further interrogation and prosecution. The decisive action by the Amotekun Anti-Cultism Squad aimed to address the cr#m#nal activities that had been terrorizing Ilesa township.
