Although Dessers has featured three times under Peseiro’s management, with his last appearance in a friendly against Algeria last year, the 28-year-old remains hopeful of making the cut for the Super Eagles squad in Cote d’Ivoire.

In a statement to reporters ahead of Rangers’ Scottish Premiership clash against Celtic, Dessers expressed, “That would be an honour, that is for sure. To be in the squad for a nation like Nigeria to go to a big tournament, but at this moment, I am not focusing on that.”

With one goal in four appearances for the three-time African champions, Dessers is determined to contribute to Nigeria’s success in the prestigious AFCON 2023 tournament.
