IGP initiates special operation to address Plateau k#ll#ngs, urges unity against cr#minal acts

In response to the recent surge in v#olence leading to over a hundred casualties in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun has directed the commencement of a Special Operation to address the situation. During his visit to Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos, IGP Egbetokun revealed that AIG Zone 4, Haladu Musa, has been instructed to temporarily relocate his office to Plateau State to ensure an effective operation.

Emphasizing the severity of the situation, IGP Egbetokun stated, “President Bola Tinubu has ordered that the perpetrators of this heinous act be fished out, and ensure they face the wrath of the law. I commiserate with the people of Plateau and assure you of the full support of the Police in tackling this menace.” He urged citizens to collaborate with security personnel, emphasizing that the fight against criminal acts should not be directed against a particular tribe or religion but against cr#minals.

Governor Mutfwang appreciated the efforts of the IGP and urged for improved intelligence sharing among security operatives. He emphasized the importance of demonstrating that the ongoing crisis is not about ethnic profiling, encouraging the unveiling of both perpetrators and sponsors to comprehensively address the problems. The governor expressed confidence in the IGP and his team to change the narrative of policing in the country during these challenging times.
