During the presentation, Minister Matawalle highlighted that these state-of-the-art technologies would be deployed to address security challenges in critical areas such as the Niger Delta, Lake Chad region, and various maritime zones. He emphasized that the acquisition of these unmanned ships was a direct outcome of his recent working visit to prominent companies in the United States.

The minister’s tour included inspections at NEANY, Swift Ships, and OCR Global, which are leading Hi-Tech military hardware producers in the US. The objective of the visit was to explore innovative technologies that could enhance the efficiency of the Nigerian military in tackling contemporary security threats.

Matawalle also clarified that the ultimate goal is to foster partnerships with US companies for local production of military hardware in Nigeria, collaborating with the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON). This strategic collaboration aims to strengthen Nigeria’s defense capabilities and promote self-sufficiency in the production of essential military equipment.
