According to Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the interception occurred along the Balogun border in Ogun State. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops searched a Sienna 2001 Model Space Bus with the registration number Lagos APP 129 EF and discovered 296 wraps of a substance suspected to be marijuana.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the ill#cit substance was transported from Benin Republic, passing through Ilara border communities en route Ifo, Ogun. The transnational drug tr@ffickers reportedly took five months to conceal the substance for delivery to their clients.

 

Two suspects, identified as Mr. Adigun Olatunji (54 years) and Mr. Michael Atanda (18 years), both residents of Ilara Imeko in Afun Local Government Area of Ogun and residing in Benin Republic, were arrested in connection with the crime. After a failed attempt to bribe the troops with N12 million, the suspects have been taken into custody for further necessary actions.
