Rivers State Legislative Assembly Issues Ultimatum on Communication Protocol

In a recent session, the Rivers State House of Assembly, under the leadership of Mr. Martin Amaehwule, has raised concerns about the conduct of Brick House staff, prompting a potential halt in receiving communications from the Government House.

Amaehwule, expressing disappointment during the assembly’s meeting at its chambers along the Port Harcourt – Aba Expressway, revealed the Clerk of the Government House’s lack of responsiveness to letters from the legislative arm.

Highlighting a breakdown in communication since the Government House failed to acknowledge a correspondence on commissioner-nominees, Amaehwule warned that the Assembly might cease accepting any communication from the executive branch.

Interestingly, during the House’s call for the screening of nine nominees, they opted to grant them a swift approval, acknowledging their previous roles as commissioners in the state.

Efforts to obtain the state government’s response hit a roadblock as calls to the Commissioner for Information went unanswered.
