Commissioner Oyedele emphasized the importance of addressing the transportation needs of the region’s growing population. He highlighted the historical significance of the railway system in Nigeria’s economic development and underscored the need for a well-planned railway infrastructure that can accommodate the future demands of the people.
“Nigeria’s railway system has played a pivotal role in the country’s transportation sector and economic progress, connecting various regions. With Nigeria’s population growing rapidly, an additional 100 million people are expected in the next decade. To realize this vision, we must adopt a collaborative approach and systematic planning, developing a comprehensive railway plan that anticipates the future needs of our citizens,” stated the Commissioner.
The Osun State government’s commitment to supporting the South West Rail Project reflects its dedication to fostering regional development and improving transportation networks to meet the demands of a growing population. Collaborative efforts among South-West states are essential to achieving this goal and enhancing the overall transport infrastructure in the region.
