Zamfara Governor raises alarm on soaring insecurity, calls for prayers

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has voiced serious concern about the escalating incidents of killings, kidnappings, and violence in the state, urging citizens to intensify prayers against the ongoing terrorist activities.

Governor Lawal expressed these worries while offering condolences to the Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Mai Gari, at his palace. During the visit to Maru town, where a recent bandit attack occurred, the governor assured the Emir and the affected community of the government’s commitment to ending banditry.

Emphasizing the need to address insecurity, Governor Lawal pledged to enhance security measures in Maru Local Government Area and other volatile regions of the state. He underscored the administration’s determination to tackle the issue of insecurity seriously.

The governor extended sympathies to the victims’ families and the entire populace of Maru Local Government Area. He reassured the people of ongoing efforts to ensure their safety, including the recent employment of Community Protection Guards (CPG).

During the visit, special prayers for peace were led by the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque, seeking the restoration of peace not only in Maru Local Government Area but also in Zamfara State and Nigeria as a whole.

The Emir of Maru, Alhaji Abubakar Gado Maigari, expressed gratitude to Governor Lawal for the condolence visit and prayed for the swift return of peace in the state.
