Nigerian Troops rescue six kidnap victims in Kebbi operation

In a successful joint operation, Nigerian Army troops and local vigilantes rescued six hostages from the clutches of armed bandits in a forest located in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The victims, all male, were found in good condition and have been safely reunited with their families, as announced by Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris, in a press statement on Saturday.

Sarki revealed that the victims, who were initially declared missing by their families, were unknowingly kidnapped, and their rescue took place during a raid on Kogon Damisa Hill around Saminaka in Shanga Local Government Area, a border town between Kebbi and Niger.

He expressed appreciation for the efforts of the troops from 1 Battalion, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi, and the vigilantes involved in the operation, commending their bravery in dislodging a significant number of bandits. The successful rescue showcases the government’s unwavering commitment to supporting security agencies in the state.
