Sheikh Gumi condemns airstrike in Kaduna, rejects targeting innocent lives

Renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has strongly condemned the recent airstrike in Tudun Biri, Kaduna State, expressing his disapproval of targeting innocent lives, especially the wives of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) members.

The tragic incident, involving a military drone mistakenly k#lling worshippers during Malaud celebrations in the village, has sparked controversy and raised questions about the accuracy of intelligence.

Addressing the incident during his weekly lecture at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna, Sheikh Gumi questioned the claim of mistaken identity, emphasizing that the use of bombs on civilians, including women and children, is unjustifiable.

He stated, “These people assembled in a place where women and children were, and the drones have cameras, which means they saw the people. But they suspected they were children and wives of some people. But they mistakenly targeted those who are not their target.”

Expressing his stance against the k#lling of innocent lives, Sheikh Gumi asserted that regardless of one’s affiliation, be it IPOB or any other group, no one should be subjected to such bombings. He advocated for face-to-face combat over indiscriminate bombings, highlighting the importance of preserving civilian lives.

Drawing attention to similar conflicts in other regions, Sheikh Gumi questioned the use of bombs specifically targeting individuals and urged a reconsideration of military tactics to prevent harm to innocent lives.
