Dele Momodu criticizes Tinubu’s mediation in Wike-Fubara peace accord in Rivers State

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Dele Momodu, has expressed strong reservations about President Bola Tinubu’s involvement in resolving the conflict between Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, labeling it legally questionable.

The clash between Fubara and Wike revolves around the control of Rivers State’s political structure and finances, resulting in defections to the All Progressives Congress (APC) by state Assembly members and resignations from the Fubara-led executive council.

Tinubu stepped in to facilitate a peace agreement between the two parties at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where an eight-point resolution was issued.

Taking to Instagram, Momodu criticized the intervention, stating, “The directives to Rivers State by a Federal President is really absurd in legal terms. No President can be a Headmaster of both State and Federal.” He questioned the democratic principles in play, raising concerns about a president intervening in the internal affairs of opposition parties and overriding the constitution without challenge.

Momodu concluded by urging opposition parties to vehemently oppose what he perceives as an attempt to impose a one-party dictatorship on Nigeria.
