The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has taken decisive action by arresting nine individuals involved in the alleged production and distribution of counterfeit pillows in Sokoto State. Commandant Bello Alkali disclosed this development while presenting the suspects to the public during a parade in Sokoto on Wednesday.

Operatives of the NSCDC successfully apprehended the suspects at various locations within Sokoto metropolis. According to Alkali, the individuals engaged in the illicit activity of manufacturing counterfeit pillows, utilizing materials sourced from unhygienic sources such as waste bins, drains, and other undesirable places.

The harmful materials used in the production process included discarded sanitary pads, baby diapers, used clothes, and various other waste materials. Alkali emphasized the health risks associated with using such counterfeit pillows and urged the public to exercise caution when purchasing bedding products.
He revealed that the suspects would undergo thorough investigations, and upon completion, legal charges would be filed against them in court. The NSCDC’s swift response aims to curb the production and circulation of substandard and unhygienic products, ensuring the safety and well-being of consumers in Sokoto.
