Governor Fintiri emphasized the need for the NIS to leverage technology in securing the extensive international borders around Adamawa State to address the growing security challenges. With nine local government areas sharing borders with Cameroon, Fintiri stressed the urgency of implementing effective measures to curb security breaches.

Highlighting that a considerable number of criminals operating in the state are foreigners, the governor expressed satisfaction with the reforms in the issuance of international passports by the NIS. However, he urged the Service to ensure that non-Nigerians are not improperly registered.

“Most of the elements of security breaches come from the porous borders,” Governor Fintiri stated, underscoring the necessity of securing these entry points. The new NIS state comptroller assured that various border entry points would be tightened to enhance security in the region.
